Article Idea:

Our new app

suggested by joe m on 2007/08/06

We’ve been working on a website planning tool called Jumpchart for about a year now. We’re currently in beta, and building up towards a launch. While Jumpchart isn’t a die-hard IA application, I do think it might find an audience on b&a. Jumpchart is basically an interactive collaborative wireframe. As we head into our launch, I was wondering if it might be ok for me to write a small article about how we see Jumpchart fitting into the web development business. Is that too much of a commercial? Should I wait to see if someone on b&a likes it enough to write a review someday?

Tell me what the protocol is. If you want to check it out, here’s a beta invite. http://www.jumpchart.com/?code=D932A99

I look forward to hearing your thoughts if you get a spare few minutes to send them.

So if nobody contacts me is that it? I can’t submit an article? If so, that’s fine… maybe nobody wants to hear,—but I’m a little clueless on the process at this point.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for adding your idea. We review the ideas regularly,* accepting some of them to become articles. A lot of the momentum from idea to article is driven by the community. If your idea is selected, I will contact you personally and explain the process (which is very simple).

Many times, you have to propose multiple ideas before one hits a chord with the community. Rather than a straight-forward review of your product (as it is strange for you to review your own product), how about rethinking your idea as a case study of what happened that encouraged you to build Jumpchart in the first place, or how you built the software using the methods that will underpin it? Such perspectives are valued highly by people who read B&A.

Best,
Chris
