Thanks for referring me over to the article, Olga. Very useful in swaying me in the approach for my next resume(s).

While I am not looking forward the deep dive that is re-authoring my resume, the insights in your article (and from others on the IAI list) have really helped me fine tune my focus.

Christina—way to hit one of my pet peeves about wait staff on the head. It actually pains me to not leave a good tip, but it pains me even more to have a great meal go to rot because I’m left feeling as if I’m held captive when all I really want to do is leave and move on with my life.

Chris—good question. I think I have to echo Bill, but mildly different.

I think that, in this case, technology enabled the relationship, but it is up to us to be genuine to our online personalities (assuming, of course, that we are). As long as we are genuine in those manners, I think it translates nicely once you remove the technology.

When Bill and I spoke on the phone, I had already had the advantage of seeing him speak via an online video—he didn’t have the opportunity to know what a fast-speaking person I am, but the way we spoke to each was in the same vein as email, IM and other messaging.

I think it all depends upon how genuine people are and their intentions with each other and/or the relationship.
