Beth Mazur

Beth Mazur

is the founder of the Society for Technical Communication’s Information Design special interest group (ID SIG). She is the editor of the SIG’s newsletter, Design Matters, and author of the ID SIG’s weblog, IDblog (soon to come off of hiatus). To pay the bills, she manages web technology for AARP. In September, she will become a doctoral student in communication design at the University of Baltimore.

Bill Lucas

Bill Lucas

Bill Lucas works at MAYA Design, a consulting firm + technology lab based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bill is the inaugural member of MAYA’s Professional Practice Fellowship Program. His current area of focus is user experience design for MAYA’s internal R&D initiatives. Bill has been designing experiential systems for more than fifteen years. During his tenure at MAYA, Bill designed and directed solutions for a wide range of clients including Merrill Lynch, Eaton, General Electric, United States Postal Service and DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). Prior to joining MAYA, Bill designed identity standards, marketing materials, trade show exhibits and signage systems at Corning Incorporated. Bill holds a B.S. in graphic design from the University of Cincinnati, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning.

Bob Baxley

Bob Baxley

is a writer, designer, and father (not necessarily in that order) who lives and works in Silicon Valley. Specializing in interaction design for both Web applications and desktop products, Bob has worked in a variety of corporate and start-up environments including Adobe Systems, Apple Computer, Epiphany, NetObjects, Ameritrade, Claris, and most recently, myCFO. In 2002, Bob authored “Making the Web Work” (ISBN: 0735711968), the first book to detail the unique challenges involved in the design of Web-based applications and services. He writes about design and technology at Baxley Design as well as a host of other things at Drowning in the Current. Bob Goodman

Bob Goodman

Bob Goodman is a Boston-based user experience professional whose business, BobGoodman.Net, Inc., offers information architecture, usability consulting, and interaction design. His approach combines business strategy, brand building, and workflow optimization to help companies connect with their employees, business partners, and customers.

Bob’s interests include visual perception and the psychology of individual and group decision making. He is active in several trade groups, including the User Experience Network, where he serves as Boston Ambassador. He writes frequently about technology and culture, and his work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, the Boston Phoenix, ACM's Interactions magazine, UXMatters, and on his blog, UxCulture.com.

Bob Kasenchak

Bob is an information architect at Factor. A taxonomist and ontologist with an interest in knowledge graphs and Linked Data, he has worked for over a decade building and implementing taxonomy projects for publishing, enterprise, technology, and e-commerce clients. He brings experience with information modeling and semantic software to client-focused metadata and vocabulary projects.

Brian  Sullivan

Brian Sullivan

Brian Sullivan is a community organizer, speaker, and usability engineer from Dallas, Texas. He offers usability and design advice to help product teams improve the customer experience and usability of their designs. Brian spends an inordinate amount of time organizing events, including monthly DFW-UPA meetings, quarterly workshops, and the annual Big Design Conference. He has worked with AT&T, Burger King, American Airlines, SkyChefs, United Airlines, and Carter Blood Center. At home, Brian takes orders from his wife (Susan), their son (Sean), and the cat that owns them all (Junior).

Brian R. Krause has more than 20 years of software design and development experience, working under the name Adducive since 1998. He has worked for large multinational corporations, startups worldwide, and in the public sector. His work has taken him to Singapore, England, and Japan. His experience covers mobile, desktop, and web applications, and graphical and speech recognition interfaces.

Bryan McClain is co-founder and senior UX Researcher at Metric Lab(www.metric-lab.com). Bryan has been working in user experience and innovation research for over eight years. He has extensive training in advanced interview methods for use in user research, which helps to ensure maximum accuracy and detail of user feedback. Bryan has performed user research on a variety of large projects, working with technology companies, design firms and government agencies. Bryan has worked with companies such as eBay Corp., Microsoft, SOLV and Kodak. He has also worked on projects conducted for the United States Army and Marine Corps to ensure that future-force military vehicles employed user-centric design.

Bryce Glass is a Senior Interaction Designer at Yahoo! He works on Community Platforms and is professionally interested in: social media and user participation in online communities; models for representing user and content reputation; and concept modeling as part of the product development process. Cameron Miller

Cameron practices UX Design at HRworx by day, and explores the world of Augmented and Mixed Reality at Holographic Interfaces by night. He possesses a sound educational background with a B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction. Chad Thornton

Chad Thornton

works as a Usability Specialist in the User Experience Group at Intuit. He does user research, usability testing, and interaction design, spending too much time on software and websites that start with "Quick". He has done similar work at Achieva, the American Museum of Natural History, and Pomona College, where he received his degree in Biology.

In his spare time, Chad maintains a weblog called Brightly Colored Food. During his youth he was a guitarist in a big band and a fisherman in Baja, but he's considerably less exciting these days. He currently lives in San Francisco, where he's mistaken for an employee in local bookstores and eats platanos fritos y casamiento like it's going out of style.

Challis was CEO and co-founder of HannaHodge a pioneering user experience firm that broke new ground in human-centered design process. Charles Shimooka

Charles has been working as a UX practitioner since around the time people were worried about the Y2K problem. He is the former head of product development at DIRECTV Latin America's New Media team. He currently works in the San Francisco Bay area managing user experience for McKesson.

Chelsey Glasson

Chelsey Glasson is a user researcher who has led research programs for a variety of companies, both large and small. She currently works at Facebook as a user research lead. Outside of work, she keeps busy with raising her kids and exploring the Pacific Northwest. Chelsey can be found on LinkedIn.

Chiara Fox

Chiara Fox

is the Senior Information Architect at Adaptive Path. Chiara has developed successful information architectures for intranets, informational websites, and e-commerce sites. She's worked with a diverse range of companies, including Fortune 100 and 500 companies, such as PeopleSoft, AT&T, Square D, L.L. Bean, Target, Sony ImageStation, Aliant, Fluent, and Hewlett-Packard. Before joining Adaptive Path, Chiara served as the senior information architect for PeopleSoft, an enterprise software company. She implemented a unified information architecture across the public website, customer extranet, and partner extranet in a single CMS. The IA was expanded to include 23 international sites the following year. She also designed the metadata schema for use on all 26 websites. Before joining PeopleSoft, Chiara was an information architect at Argus Associates, a pioneering information architecture design firm. Chiara is an active member of the American Society of Information Science and Technology and ACM's local chapter of SIG-CHI, BayCHI. Chris Baum

Chris is a UX practitioner who started his career in technology as a customer service rep for a startup back in the go-go Web boom. After taking over product management responsibilities and building his first website, he moved on to usability and design management roles at Charles Schwab. He returned to product management as Sr. PM for eTrade and Jaman.com, an online social cinema company, before coming back into the design seat. He is putting together a consulting practice combining all of his skills as you read this.

In designer guise, he is recognized as an expert user experience practitioner and an enterprise information architect. Chris is also the Editor-in-Chief of Boxes and Arrows.
