Jon Innes

Jon Innes

Jon Innes is a UX consultant who helps companies develop and improve user-centered design and research processes. He also likes to get his hands dirty and do interesting UX project work. His experience spans a wide variety of domains, including consumer and enterprise software, consumer hardware, IT projects, and e-commerce website design. Jon has led UX teams and projects for several members of the Fortune 1000, both as a consultant and a member of an in-house team. Jon is a Certified Scrum Product Owner, with extensive experience integrating Agile and UX in both large distributed teams and early stage startups.

is a software engineer who has worked in the high-tech industry for the last decade, with experience spanning computer graphics, information visualization, and business-to-business ecommerce at such firms as AVS and Commerce One. For the past 15 years, Jorge has helped organizations in Central America to make more effective use of interactive media. He was one of the first information architects in this part of the world, and founded BootStudio, one of the first web consultancies in the region. He is also an active member of the international UX community, and has served as an advisor, director, and president of the IA Institute, as well as managing editor of Boxes and Arrows.

Joseph Selbie is a founder and CEO of Tristream. Tristream specializes in web application design. Joseph's project roles include team leader, business analyst, experience designer, and workflow analyst. He is particularly adept at helping enterprises maximize the opportunity that new applications provide to increase productivity and ROI through improved workflow and usability. Joseph is co-author of “Best Team Practices for Designing User Strategy, User Experience and User Interface for Web-Delivered Applications,” and a frequent speaker at conferences such as the Nielsen Norman Group's Experience Design conference. Julie Stanford

Julie Stanford

has been a practicing experience designer since 1996 and is a partner at Sliced Bread Design, an interaction design and usability agency. Through her work at Sliced Bread, Julie has specialized in designing complex online, wireless, and voice applications for clients such as Elevon, Tellme, Agilent, and Casio. She also recently published a paper, commissioned by Consumer's Union, which analyzed how health and finance experts evaluate the credibility of websites in their field. Julie has extensive experience in designing finacially oriented applications ranging from enterprise resource planning applications for Fortune 500 companies to online financial advice for consumers. Other notable projects in her past include designing the first generation Oracle Support intranet, and working on one of the first voice interfaces for Sun that demonstrated the capabilities of Java. Julie has a B.S. degree in Symbolic Systems with a focus on Human Computer Interaction from Stanford Univerity and an M.A. degree in Communications with an Interaction Design specialization also from Stanford. In her spare time, Julie swing dances with her husband, plays with her border collie, and experiments with home improvement projects.

Karah Salaets is a user experience researcher and strategist who hails from the state with the best flag, Maryland. Karah is currently a Senior Design Researcher for LiquidHub, part of Capgemini Invent, where she conducts and synthesizes user research for clients across industries. Her special interests are designing smart systems and processes for people operations, public health, and education.

is a PhD student in library and information science at the University of Western Ontario. He also has a master's in LIS. His graduate work has included courses on organization of information, subject analysis, thesaurus construction, and facet analysis.

Kayla Block

Kayla Block has worked in UX design for more than 15 years and most of her career is focused on making complex enterprise applications easy, efficient, and delightful to use. In addition to her design chops, she has deep expertise in Design Thinking, discovery research, user testing, and other forms of research to drive great design. She holds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology and uses her background in learning, perception, and memory in her design work. In her spare time, she changes dog's lives through behavior modification and by volunteering at her local shelter. She lives in Sacramento, CA. She is a UX Design Lead at BMC Software. She is an open networker on LinkedIn.

Kevin Fenton

Kevin Fenton is the Creative Director at Design Center Inc. a Minneapolis-St Paul firm which designs mobile apps, VR experiences, and other digital tools which align with client processes. Kevin has published in design magazines such as Emigre and Eye (London) and the anthology Looking Closer II: Critical Writing on Graphic Design; he has been featured on KARE 11 nightly news on advertising to youth, lectured at the University of Minnesota on Starting A Story, and served as a mentor in the Visual Narrative MFA program at the School of Visual Arts (NYC). He holds a JD and an MFA from the University of Minnesota and a BA from Beloit College. He edits the Design Center Inc blog. Much of his writing on UX is improved by discussions with his colleagues at Design Center.

Kim Goodwin

Kim Goodwin is the author of the bestselling book, Designing for the Digital Age. Kim is currently consulting for clients in varied industries including aviation, consumer electronics, and retail. She spent most of the last decade as Vice-President, Design and General Manager at Cooper, leading an integrated practice of interaction, visual, and industrial designers and the development of the acclaimed Cooper U design curriculum. Kim has led projects involving a tremendous range of design problems, including web sites, complex analytical and enterprise applications, phones, medical devices, services, and even organizations.
